Slimmed-Down Jameis Winston Looks to be in Great Shape for Training Camp

Jameis Winston is looking slimmer as he prepares to start training camp.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has trimmed some fat from his frame.

Athletic trainer Tim Grover, who has worked with Michael Jordan and Dwyane Wade and has been training Winston this 0ff-season, recently posted side-by-side pictures of the quarterback on Instagram, showing his slimmer waist.

According to his father, Winston has lost about 20 pounds this off-season. This weight loss comes just in time for training camp, as Winston will report to the Buccaneers' training facility on July 27.

To help Winston lose weight, Grover told him not to eat late at night. According to ESPN, Winston had developed a habit of eating chips for a late night snack. Grover said he got Winston on a solid sleep schedule so he would eat more during the day instead of before bed.

Besides cutting out late night snacking, Winston worked with Grover on footwork, flexibility and balance, doing exercises like the Tuck Jump to Split Landing to help him gain explosive power, single-leg stability and deceleration, which he needs to make sudden changes in direction while in the pocket.

Though Winston wasn't as slim last season, he still threw for 4,042 yards and 22 touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Now that he has slimmed down, his production on the field should only increase.
