‘Amazing Spider-Man’: Could the Sinister Six Be Coming to the Big Screen?
In a recent interview with Total Film, Jamie Foxx added fuel to rumors that the Sinister Six could rise up against our favorite web-slinger in the near future.
Asked if he’d consider returning to the franchise to reprise his role as Electro, Foxx said he would, revealing that there have been discussions about putting together the super villain team for Amazing Spider-Man 3. “They actually talked about it, the Sinister Six, so I’ve got my fingers crossed,” Foxx said. “When you think about it, electricity never dies, it just goes to a different place.”
During an interview with MTV, Paul Giamatti also hinted at the possibility of the Sinister Six. “I don’t actually know, but that seems to be what they’re doing,” said the actor. “I’m not an idiot either, but I can’t claim hard and fast knowledge of this. I won’t. I can’t because I don’t actually know, but you and I can speculate.”
Giamatti, who portrays Rhino in the upcoming sequel, attempted to calm growing concerns among fans about the number of villains sharing screen time in Amazing Spider-Man 2, pointing out their limited roles and suggesting that they could just be setting up the Sinister Six. “I believe there’s a lot of stage-setting for the next film [in Amazing Spider-Man 2],” said the Emmy-nominated star. “There are several villains in this movie, and some of them are more foreground and important. Jamie Foxx is and stuff. A couple of us are more hanging around the background, because I think there will be a bigger deal.”
The original Sinister Six were led by Doctor Octopus and included Vulture, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman and Kraven the Hunter. But if Sony opts to move forward, they could certainly change the lineup. Who would you like to see join the evil gang?
Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 1, 2014. Two more sequels will reportedly arrive June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018.
