Sportiiiis Offers a Safe Way to Track Performance
4iiii Innovations, a company that focuses on “merging the demands of athletes with the latest advancements in technology,” has released the Sportiiiis, an innovative performance tracking device that clips onto virtually all sunglasses to provide an LED light display at the base of your sunglasses (see photo below). Different colored lights, ranging from red to green, signal whether performance goals are being met while still allowing the athlete to keep his or her eyes focused on the road ahead. No need to look at a watch or a handlebar display to get crucial data. You’ll be able to see it in your secondary vision.
Workout info is collected through wireless technology. You can get audio feedback on current performance, such as pace or power, with the tap of a finger.
Battery life is a robust nine hours. Additional accessories include a 4iiii FootPod to track running, walking or hiking data; 4iiii Bike Sensor to detect cadence and drag; and a 4iiii Heart Rate Strap to monitor cardiovascular activity.
Although other tools are available to record performance and health data, Sportiiiis offers a safer option for those who take their workouts outdoors. To check their watches for data, runners and cyclists must take their eyes off the road, risking not only an accident involving a car, but an injury caused by tripping over an object on foot or hitting a pothole while biking. Sportiiiis displays performance data right at an eye-accessible level, so athletes can stay focused and keep their eyes on the road. In fact, 4iiii Innovations president Ian Andes came up with the idea for Sportiiiis after he tripped while running. In this case, pain—not necessity—was the mother of invention!
Head over to 4iiii.com to purchase the Sportiiiis. Retail cost is $199, with accessories available for an additional price.
