Team adidas
Robert Griffin III made the Superdome his playground in Week One, scoring a Battle of the Brands league-high 29 points in his NFL debut. Will he strike again in St. Louis? Team adidas will need every point it can get from the rookie signal-caller.
- QB: Robert Griffin III (@STL)
- WR: Davone Bess (vs. OAK)
- WR: Kendall Wright (@ SD)
- RB: DeMarco Murray (@ SEA)
- RB: Frank Gore (vs. DET)
- TE: Jimmy Graham (@ CAR)
- Flex: Reggie Bush or CJ Spiller?
numberFire: High off of C.J. Spiller’s awesome Week One after replacing Fred Jackson? Don’t be. Despite starting 12 games and appearing in 31 in his career, last Sunday was only his second career 100-yard game, fifth career rushing TD, and second time over 7.0 yards per carry in his career. As odd as it may sound, Bush is the safer choice because you know what you’re going to get. Selection: Reggie Bush (vs. OAK).
Team Reebok
Despite the fact he missed the entire 2011 season, Peyton Manning got the Week One start for Team Reebok for several reasons. His exceptional play has earned him the start for Week Two.
- QB: Peyton Manning (@ ATL)
- WR: Roddy White (vs. DEN)
- WR: Brandon Marshall (@ GB)
- RB: Maurice Jones-Drew (vs. HOU)
- RB: Jamaal Charles (@ BUF)
- TE: Antonio Gates (vs. TEN)
- Flex: Ahmad Bradshaw or Reggie Wayne?
numberFire: Wayne may have had an excellent Week One, but it’s much tougher for a receiver to maintain high point totals week-to-week than it is for a running back, who will be guaranteed at least 15 touches per game. Plus, it’s doubtful that Andrew Luck will be attempting 45 passes again. Because nobody’s poaching carries from Bradshaw in New York, we’re picking him to have a good game against the weak Tampa Bay run defense. Selection: Ahmad Bradshaw (vs. TB).
Team Nike
Alex Smith could potentially lock up the starting QB job for Team Nike if he continues to play like he did in Week One. Larry Fitzgerald takes Victor Cruz’s spot as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Megatron. LeSean McCoy’s Philadelphia Eagles play host to Ray Rice and the Baltimore Ravens.
- QB: Alex Smith (vs. DET)
- WR: Calvin Johnson (@ SF)
- WR: Larry Fitzgerald (@ NE)
- RB: Ray Rice (@ PHI)
- RB: LeSean McCoy (vs. BAL)
- TE: Jermichael Finley (vs. CHI)
- Flex: Victor Cruz or Adrian Peterson?
numberFire: As expected, Team Nike has the toughest decision to make at the flex position. Both players have solid match-ups against defenses in the bottom half of the league, and both will get their opportunities. But Cruz’s drops in Week One are worrisome, as he only went 6-of-11 catching balls thrown his way. All-Day it is. Selection: Adrian Peterson (@ IND).
Team Under Armour
Cam gets a shot at redemption after a rough start in Week One. Stevan Ridley played well enough in Week One to earn starting time as the No. 2 running back, supplanting Willis McGahee.
- QB: Cam Newton (vs NO)
- WR: Julio Jones (vs. DEN)
- WR: Steve Smith (vs NO)
- RB: Arian Foster (@ JAX)
- RB: Stevan Ridley (vs. ARI)
- TE: Vernon Davis (vs. DET)
- Flex: Miles Austin or Anquan Boldin?
numberFire: This matchup comes down to targets thrown their way. Austin is the more talented receiver at this stage of his career, and although he’ll steal some targets from Kevin Ogletree this week, there are still a lot of receiving weapons in the Dallas offense. Anquan Boldin seems to be the receiver of choice for Joe Flacco in the Ravens’ no huddle; he was Flacco’s second most-targeted option in Week One, and he could jump to first this week. The bird (Raven) is the word. Selection: Anquan Boldin (@ PHI).
