Subway and Ndamukong Suh Kick Off the "Summer of the Superfood"
To kick off its “Summer of the Superfood,” Subway recently hosted a football training camp in Los Angeles, run by Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and celebrity fitness trainer Harley Pasternak; and STACK was on hand to participate, observe and learn.
Suh put his own twist on the ProCamps Combine with his healthy fuel of choice, the avocado. “I love Subway,” said Suh. “It’s always my choice when I need something fresh and fast, especially with training camp right around the corner. [Subway] offering avocado now helps me sub out fats that I would usually get from not as healthy sources like bacon with something that’s really good for me. So I’m thrilled to be a part of this event.”
Suh and Subway used the superfood to put a creative spin on traditional football drills. Suh coached participants through a series of combine-style drills, from the Shuttle Run to Punt-Pass-Kick Competition. But instead of running through the drills with a pigskin, athletes carried avocados. It’s safe to say that not many players have had to perform a 40-Yard Dash carrying an avocado!
Although we didn’t set any records, STACK got plenty of training tips and nutrition advice from one of the league’s most tenacious defenders. Check back later for exclusive footage from Subway’s Summer of the Superfood training camp and Suh’s take on nutrition and training.
