Mark Wahlberg Returns for ‘Ted 2’
Ted 2, the predictable sequel to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy film of all time, is on its way to theaters. Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as John Bennett, an immature man whose best friend is a foulmouthed Teddy bear, who came to life when a childhood wish was granted many years before. Seth MacFarlane returns as the film’s writer, director and producer, as well as the voice of the humorously irreverent Ted himself, in this Universal production.
Considering the original movie earned $550 million worldwide, it wasn’t surprising when the studio announced it wanted to make a sequel “as soon as possible.”
Several Hollywood A-listers are joining the cast for this installment, including Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried, both of whom recently worked with MacFarlane on the comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, and veteran actor Morgan Freeman. Also featured are Dennis Haysbert (Sin City: A Dame to Kill for) and Castle’s Michael Dorn. Actor Patrick Warburton (Rules of Engagement) returns in the role of Guy, and Jessica Barth will again play Tami-Lynn.
As he did for the first movie, MacFarlane is collaborating on the screenplay with scribes Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.
Ted 2 will hit theaters nationwide on June 26, 2015.
