One Thing All Outstanding High School Senior Athletes Must Do
Listen up, high school seniors. If you’re a student-athlete dedicated to learning and leading on the field and off, you may have what it takes to be a Wendy’s High School Heisman award winner. But the application deadline is coming soon, so you need to act fast.
What can the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program do for you? Zoe Alaniz was the top-ranked student in her class and a three-time all-state performer in diving at W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, when she applied for the Wendy’s High School Heisman last fall. Three months later, she stood on the same stage as Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel after winning the 19th annual Wendy’s High School Heisman. She and 11 other national finalists met Johnny Football himself during a weekend in New York City, which included a ceremony honoring the finalists for their hard work on the field, in the classroom and within their communities.
Alaniz, who captured gold in the Texas Class 4A 1-meter diving event during her senior year, capped off her remarkable high school career by accepting a full athletic scholarship to attend Texas A&M.
Your participation in the program will help you get recognized and rewarded. The Wendy’s High School Heisman is an honorable distinction recognized by colleges. School, state and national finalists receive a Heisman patch as well as a winner’s certificate, medal or trophy.
But you won’t just be helping yourself. Participation in the program can help your school. As you move forward in the process, you become eligible to earn cash prizes for your school.
Ready to apply? Good. Applicants will be judged on their academic achievements, athletic accomplishments and community involvement. To be eligible, you must complete and submit your application by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Oct. 2. Also, your application must be reviewed and approved by a school official by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Oct. 4.
