The Next Ezekiel Elliott? Ohio State Commit Named Nation’s Most Athletic Recruit
The Opening Finals is an annual showcase sponsored by Nike for the country’s most elite football recruits. To say it’s exclusive is an understatement. Just to qualify, you have to ball out at a regional event. Past participants have included Jalen Ramsey, Ezekiel Elliot and Derrick Henry.
The Opening Finals 2016 are going on right now, but the combine portion of the event has been completed. The big winner? J.K. Dobbins, a class of 2017 running back from La Grange, Texas. Currently ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports.com, Dobbins posted the highest overall Nike+ Football Rating (formerly known as SPARQ rating) with a score of 146.76:

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Dobbins gave a superhuman combine performance, including a 4.45 40-Yard Dash, a 4.09 20-Yard Shuttle, a 42-inch Power Ball Toss and a 43.1-inch Vertical Jump. For comparison, Elliot posted an overall score of 118.11 at The Opening back in 2012. Dobbins is currently committed to Ohio State, so it was fitting that the former Buckeye was on hand to present him with his award:
