Recent Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Emile Hirsch, best known for Lone Survivor, are set to star in the farcical comedy feature The Runaround.
A workaholic father, played by Simmons, decides to visit his daughter during a last-minute layover in L.A. Discovering she is missing, he must join forces with her nervous ex-boyfriend (Hirsch) in an attempt to locate her during the course of one wacky night.
Gavin Wiesen will direct the movie, a follow-up to his feature film directorial debut, the coming of age flick The Art of Getting By, starring Emma Roberts.
The screenplay was written by Seth W. Owen, best known for the zany 2010 comedy feature Peepers.
Hirsch will next be seen in the crime thriller Vincent-N-Roxxy, out later this year. Simmons is currently filming several projects, including the Ben Affleck drama The Accountant.
The Runaround is expected to begin filming in July.
