Christoph Waltz to Star in and Direct True-Crime Project 'The Worst Marriage in Georgetown'

Christoph Waltz will portray eccentric social climber Albrecht Muth in the upcoming 'The Worst Marriage in Georgetown.'

Oscar-winning, Austrian-born actor Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained) has signed on to star in and direct a true-crime feature film titled The Worst Marriage in Georgetown.

Based on a New York Times Magazine article by Franklin Foer, the movie will recount the true story of how eccentric social climber Albrecht Muth seduced and married the much-older wealthy widow and journalist Viola Drath. The couple hosted lavish parties in the basement of their home for the world's most influential politicians. The extraordinarily ambitious Muth even formed a circle of prestigious international thinkers, which included former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara and was dubbed the Eminent Persons Group, to advise the U.N.

With his falsified background, Muth rose to the level of Washington D.C. luminary, but the life he created for himself suddenly came crashing down around him in 2011, when Drath was found murdered. A suspect in the crime, Muth was put on the defensive as his integrity, ethics and public persona were picked apart. The movie offers a captivating insider's perspective of the most powerful and elite groups in Washington D.C.
