Last week, during YouTube Geek Week, Marvel Studios released the latest trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Filmed in 3D, the movie is expected to hit theaters in North America on Nov. 8.
Much of the cast from the first Thor film reprise their roles in this sequel. Returning stars include Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god Thor; Natalie Portman as Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster; Anthony Hopkins as Thor’s father Odin; and Tom Hiddleston as Thor’s brother, the villainous Loki.
According to the summary of the movie on Marvel’s website, the villain Malekith the Accursed returns from a long imprisonment to lead an ancient, evil race that existed before the universe was created. Malekith and his crew seek revenge on Odin by driving the nine realms of the universe into utter darkness.
Odin and all of Asgard soon realize that they are no match for their powerful foe from the past. It will be up to Odin’s son Thor, with a little help from his friends, to thwart the invading forces of evil by giving the betrayer Loki another chance. Along the way, Thor reunites with his long lost love Jane and ultimately saves the universe by sacrificing everything.
