Crime Drama ‘Triple Nine’ Stars Aaron Paul
Aaron Paul stars in the feature film crime drama Triple Nine, centering on a conspiracy between a criminal gang and a group of corrupt L.A. cops, who plan to murder a police officer so they can pull off their biggest heist. The Russian Mafia is blackmailing the dirty cops into carrying out a virtually impossible robbery. The only hope they have of succeeding is to orchestrate a 999 police code for “officer down.” The idea is to distract other officers with the emergency so that they can complete the heist. When things don’t go according to plan, the film culminates in a thrilling action-packed finale.
In addition to Paul, the star-studded cast includes Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6), Casey Affleck (Interstellar), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Clifton Collins, Jr. (Pacific Rim), Woody Harrelson (True Detective) and Kate Winslet, recently seen in Divergent.
Directing the film is John Hillcoat, best known for the big screen crime drama Lawless. The screenplay was written by relative newcomer Matt Cook, who is making his feature film debut but is known for writing, directing and producing the inspirational documentary Swim.
The making of this film was a reunion for many of the people involved. Aaron Paul expressed how happy he was to be working with old friends Norman Reedus and Clifton Collins, Jr., posting pictures of the trio on Twitter and saying, “This is what my mornings are looking like lately and I’m loving it. Working with these guys is a dream come true. This movie is going to blow all of your minds.”
Triple Nine will open in theaters nationwide Sept. 11.
