Which ‘Captain America’ Character Could Come to TV?
Agent Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D. could soon be joined on the small screen by another Marvel character. According to the Hollywood Reporter, early talks are developing about a possible television show featuring Peggy Carter. The proposed action drama would be inspired by Agent Carter, a forthcoming Captain America short to be released as an extra on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray.
“What we’ve discussed is that there are going to be more Peggy Carter stories that we need to tell,” Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito told Collider. “What we’ll do and how we’ll do it has not been determined yet, but those discussions have started. It’s in our consciousness that we need to tell another Peggy Carter story, somehow. Yet to be figured out though.”
Agent Carter follows Peggy Carter, portrayed by Hayley Atwell, as she continues her mission as a secret agent in the year following Steve Rogers’ icy preservation in The First Avenger. It’s unclear if Atwell would reprise her role for the TV show, but she did return for the short, so it’s possible. However, she’ll be pretty busy for the next few months; she is slated to appear in the Captain America sequel, The Winter Solider, and she is also filming for Kenneth Branagh’s re-imagining of the Disney classic Cinderella.
The studio is currently looking for a writer for the project, which would air on ABC if it comes to fruition. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered on ABC earlier this week.
