A big screen remake of White Fang is currently in the works at Disney.
It’s been more than 20 years since Ethan Hawke starred in a film based on the classic adventure story by Jack London. The material has actually been adapted to the big screen several times over the years, including a silent version in 1925.
This new film will be a modern interpretation. Although it uses the London novel as a source, it’s not yet clear whether it will feature the expanded storyline of the book or concentrate, as the 1991 movie did, on the companionship of wolf dog and his rescuer.
This project marks the feature film directorial debut of accomplished cinematographer Lance Acord, whose credits include Being John Malkovich and Where the Wild Things Are.
Writing the screenplay is Jose Rivera, who is best known for another adventure flick, 2004’s The Motorcycle Diaries, which earned him an Oscar nomination.
