Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith join forces in the upcoming action adventure Yoga Hosers. Also featuring Depp's daughter Lily-Rose and Smith's daughter Harley Quinn, the film is being described as a "comic book movie." It's the second installment in the True North trilogy, which focuses on Canadian myth culture. The first is Tusk, which debuts at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Both movies are being written and directed by Kevin Smith.
Somewhat unusually for a follow-up film, the entire cast of Tusk—including Justin Long, Michael Parks, Ralph Garman, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez and Harley Morenstein—is reuniting for the new installment, joined by a number of interesting additions: Natasha Lyonne, Adam Brody, Tony Hale, Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), Austin Butler (The Carrie Diaries) and Tyler Posey (Scary Movie 5).
Lily-Rose and Harley Quinn play teenage yoga enthusiasts, both named Colleen, who work after school at a Manitoba convenience store. The offbeat story revolves around the girls' efforts to eliminate an ancient evil presence that has risen from beneath the Earth's crust before it has a chance to ruin their big party plans. In desperation, the two Colleens team up with a well-known Montreal man-hunter named Guy Lapointe (Depp) in what turns out to be a fight for their lives.
Yoga Hosers will be released June 1, 2015.
