Playing sports outdoors can take a toll on an athlete's skin. Regardless of the weather—rain, wind or shine—athletes must battle the elements during outdoor practices and games. To prevent excessive wrinkling and sun damage later in life, keep your skin cleansed, hydrated and protected.

Weather the elements without weathering your skin with these helpful tips:

Skin Protection Ingredients

  • Natural soap
  • Oatmeal
  • Honey
  • Oil-free moisturizing lotion
  • Sunscreen, SPF 45 or higher

Skin Protection Directions

Exfoliate Skin

Wet your face with warm water. Lather hands with natural soap. Pour one-fourth cup rolled oats into soapy hands. Drizzle one tablespoon of honey on top of oats. Mix and lather the soap, oat and honey mixture.

Introduce the mixture to your face with small, circular motions. Rinse well with warm water and pat your skin dry with a towel. This process removes dead skin and oily build-up from your face.

Hydrate Skin

Keep your skin soft and firm by regularly hydrating it with an oil-free moisturizing lotion. Frequent hydration is important for the skin; however, it is especially important to apply lotion after washing your face or spending time outside.

Protect Skin

Regularly apply sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage. This is important for both aesthetic and health reasons, as sun damage can cause effects ranging from wrinkles to skin cancer. For best results, use a high SPF sunscreen and reapply every couple of hours, or after skin becomes wet.
