The Minnesota Wild recently held their prospect and rookie development camp, hosting 37 NHL hopefuls. These camps focus on honing skills and identifying players who are ready for the pros. This year, however, in addition to time on the ice, the Wild added a unique off-ice training session—they brought the players to a cooking class.
This new approach emphasizes the importance of nutrition for success on the ice. The Wild want to teach their players to cook well-rounded, nutritious meals so they can avoid the temptations of unhealthy microwave, fast food or takeout dinners.
