In need of a quick warm-up that can get you ready for action in a hurry?
You could do a lot worse than the four-move warm-up shown in the video below, which takes just a few minutes to complete in its entirety.
"Any athlete that's involved in something that requires them to go fast, needs to make sure they have dynamic mobility," says Ryan Summers, DPT and co-owner of Pure Physio (Strongsville, Ohio). "So what we're going to run through is our typical Dynamic Warm-Up that we incorporate with sprinters, field athletes—going 0-100, you need to make sure you have the adequate mobility and that tissue is warm before you get into your sport."
The 4-Move Dynamic Warm-Up
- Walking Good Mornings
- Frankenstein to Toe Touches
- Leg Swings
- Lateral Leg Swings
Sets/Reps: Perform each exercises for 2-3 reps on each side before moving to the next movement. Repeat the entire circuit for 4-5 rounds.
