Earlier this year, Thor: The Dark World began filming in London. The sequel to the 2011 smash hit will once again star Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman. But this time, the Marvel superhero will battle against Malekith, the evil villain who’s attempting to seek revenge on the nine realms. Idris Elba will reprise his role as Heimdall—the Asgardian guard of the bifrost bridge—and he is expected to have a larger role in this film than in the last. The film will also feature Thor’s brother Loki, who’s still reeling from his inability to achieve world domination. Although the plot’s details remain unclear, it is expected that Thor will reconnect with Jane Foster, played by Portman, on his journey to save mankind.
The sequel is slated for release on Nov. 8, 2013. Alan Taylor, an experienced TV director, is directing the film. Kenneth Branagh directed Thor, which pulled in more than $400 million at the box office in 2011.
