Nestlé Teams With Olympians to Help Girl Scouts

July 13, 2012

Girl Scout Patches

When your goal is to inspire young girls to develop courage, confidence and character, who better to team with than the country’s top female Olympic athletes?

In celebration of the Girl Scouts of the USA’s 100th birthday and the upcoming Girls' World Forum 2012, Nestlé Crunch recruited basketball star Lisa Leslie, gymnast Shawn Johnson, and swimmer Dana Vollmer, along with track and field medal hopefuls Funmi Jimoh and Chaunté Howard-Lowe, to design one-of-a-kind commemorative patches.

The patches are currently being auctioned on eBay, with all proceeds going to the Girl Scouts. Each one features a global Girl Scout theme: sisterhood and respect for others (Lisa Leslie); ensuring environmental sustainability (Dana Vollmer); eradicating extreme hunger and poverty (Shawn Johnson); global citizenship (Chaunté Howard-Lowe); and promoting gender equality and empowering women (Funmi Jimoh).

“The Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary marks a time of great accomplishment for girls everywhere, and we are honored to celebrate with Girl Scouts in a unique and remarkable way,” said Tricia Bowles, Nestlé USA Confections & Snacks spokesperson. "Nestlé Crunch believes strongly in the Girl Scouts’ mission of developing and encouraging tomorrow’s women leaders.”

Bidding is open through this Sunday. For more information on the Girl Scouts and to bid on patches, visit eBay.com/nestlecrunch.
